I’m now within a month from my due date! We realized last weekend we were doing a ton to organize the house but hadn’t actually done any real baby prep, so we’re working on actually getting ready for baby now. It’s definitely a weird feeling to know baby could come next weekend or in 5 weeks. But I’m trying to be productive, enjoy our time as a family of 3 and not stress as much as possible (unsuccessful). I’m excited for a big July though!
july seasonal produce
All the fresh summer fruits and veggies are season for July! I’ve been especially loving all the melon and stone fruit in my farm box and trying to make a lot of mocktails and cocktails with them!

food photography - lighting 💡
Mastering lighting is the single most important thing you can do to elevate your food and drink photos. Intensity, angle, and type of lighting are three different aspects you should understand to bring to life your photography vision.
Let’s chat about the angle of your lighting. When starting out, many people logically think they should light their subject from the front but this is actually something you want to avoid! Travis and I generally recommend lighting your scene from the side or 3/4 angle behind. Here are a few examples:

There’s also a few lighting situations you want to avoid, like casting shadows on your main subject or any brand elements, unless it is an intentional, artistic choice. Here are a few examples of bad lighting 👇
We created a video to visualize the various angles of light on our IG.
